accidentally yours, the cd

accidentally yours ~ mike raine

This third solo CD from Mike contains, as well as his own material, a number of collaborations. Having previously concentrated on recording his own material, Mike has sought out words from others to fashion into a variety of musical explorations

Whereas the earlier "the quintessential shallow man" CD featured just one such collaboration, this contains eight, with words sourced from Keith Farwell, Glen Sward, Deeanna Petrushevski and George Kennedy.

From Mike there are some new and old songs, from the title track ("accidentally yours") which rated special mention in the Folk Federation writing awards in 2000, to the more recent "solitude" and "look up", both written in 2001. "i found myself empty" is the oldest, having emerged in the early seventies.

These tracks were recorded in 2000 and 2001 at Ranelagh using a Roland KR33 keyboard, a Roland MT100 sequencer, an ever-reliable Amiga 1200 and an ISIS multi-channel PC-based hard disk recorder.

Kathy Hickey, John Hickey, Phil Bohm and Annie Parsell played respectively whistle, bouzouki, fiddle and accordion on "jiggery". Kathy also played whistle on "moss" and Annie provided backup vocals on "solitude". Apart from these valuable contributions, all other instruments, programming and vocals are Mike's
