Welcome to Beacon

Beacon is a fictitious town set in a fictitious country at a fictitious time. In fact it is an almagam of bits and pieces of Tasmanian places; a lighthouse from here, a street from there, a hotel from somewhere else. It is a handy setting for trips into the imagination and has served well as a location for various whimsical fantasies. I am extremely grateful to those who have chosen to locate their creations in Beacon, thus adding to its ephemeral reality.

the hotel series The first in this series, "expectation" was where the Hotel Metropole appeared for the first time, and thus the world of Beacon was established. Portlight Street emerged in the third, but didn't get a name until the Brickyards Park series.
brickyards park series The Brickyards Park cycle closely followed the hotel series. Again, it wasn't till sometime later that the park got its name.
the weekend series Originally intended to be a series covering a whole weekend, only three have been written so far, covering Friday to Saturday morning. I guess we will just have to wait to find out what happens on the rest of Saturday and Sunday. One day, maybe.
views of a lighthouse These entries represent views of Beacon written by others. Included are contributions from Thunderstorm, Mimi and The Last Knight.
more from portlight street Here is an assortment of pieces, all written using roughly the same geography.
