The Craggs play original folk music that reflects the environment and relaxed lifestyle of Tasmania. The music is contemporary folk that has undertones of jazz.
The Craggs have recently released a ten track promotional CD. The title track Luck was featured on the ABC television show "Raising The Devil" and is now being aired regularly on national TV. The Song Gordonvale won the 1998 Folk Federation of Tasmania songwriting award. Half the tracks were recorded at Red Planet studio in Hobart, while the other half was recorded at audio illusion at Ranelagh.
Though the band has only comparatively recently been formed, it has already played several important Tasmanian events including the Taste of the Huon, and the Cygnet and Georgetown Folk Festivals.
The band members are:
Lindsay Campbell - Guitar, vocals and songwriter.
- Current member of The Cockies who have several commercial recordings, play Celtic, Cajun and dance music, and are regular guests at the National Folk Festival.
- Founding member of Tallow who released a number of recordings and was an invited guest at Port Fairy Folk Festival.
- Half of the duo Backseat Driver who appeared at many important Tasmanian events including the support act for Christy Moore, Shane Howard and Luka Bloom. Backseat Driver also appeared at the Melbourne Folk Club and the Boite Cafe.
- Has won a number of songwriting awards.
Tom Campbell - Guitars
- Studying music at Hobart College.
- Has played in a number of line-ups and venues around Hobart.
- His lead guitar has a strong jazz influence and he contributes some of the music the band plays.
Steve Ray - Percussion, accordion, mandolin, vocals.
- Founding member of The Cockies
- Member of Tallow
Rick Griffiths - Fender fretless Bass
- Former member of Tallow
- Music teacher.
- Played in various line-ups at festivals around Australia.
