the ranelagh collection ~ mike raine

This CD contains a collection of songs that spans over twenty years of writing.

The earliest song, Pictures Hanging on the Wall", was written as a poem in 1969, set to music in 1974, and finally recorded in 1994. "Accidentally yours" is the most recent in this collection, written in mid-1997. "Isn't it funny?" was released as a single by Meridian in 1978. "Captives of the Night" was a runner-up in a Tasmania-wide song competition sponsored by a Hobart radio station in 1987.

Many of the other songs have been entered in various competitions, but none have been devastating in their success. "Give me a Chance" did make the short list for the TasTalent CD of 1994, as did "No more no more" a year later.

These versions of the songs were all arranged and recorded at Ranelagh using a Roland KR33 keyboard, A Roland MT100 sequencer and an Amiga 1200. Guitar, vocals and an assortment of other instruments complete the line-up. All were recored on a Yamaha MT3X four-track.

Neil Levis (on keyboards) and Glen Rickwood (on guitars) played on "Roll on Summertime" and "Captives of the Night", otherwise everything else; all programming, instruments and vocals, are Mike's.
